Obituary: Audrey Jayne Miller Coghlan

Audrey J. Coghlan, 84, of St. Johnsbury, VT, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, with her family around her at her daughter’s home.

Audrey was born in Elizabethtown, NY on August 31, 1939, to Raymond A. and Ruth (Norman) Miller.  She attended primary and secondary schools in New York, graduating from Willsboro Central High School with the Class of 1957.  She attended Albany business school and went to work for the Howard Bank starting in 1961 and continued to work there for over 35 years.  She then went on to work for VT National and retired from the Chittenden Bank in Burlington, VT. 

On June 15, 1974, Audrey married Lawrence M. Coghlan. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Port Richley, FL for winters and summered at Apple Island Resort in South Hero, VT, where Audrey was active in the resort activities and a member of the Red Hat Society.  Nine years after her husband’s death in 2011, Audrey moved to St. Johnsbury to be near family, however she continued to spend her summers in So. Hero at Apple Island. Audrey was a member of the Irish society group as well as the Red Hat Society in Florida.

Survivors include her daughter, Lorie J. Kimbell and husband Daniel of St. Johnsbury; three brothers: Norman Miller of Schenectady, NY, William Miller of Elizabethtown, NY and Gary Miller of Fort Ann, NY; a sister, Alice Petterson and husband Ron of Lewiston, NY; three grandchildren, Jason R. Kimbell and wife Jessica of St. Johnsbury, VT, Alexander S. Kimbell and wife Alana of Rochester, NH, and Jennifer P. Rexinger and husband Jamie of Amherst, NY; seven great-grandchildren, Lillianna, Hailey, Adrian, Grace, and Phinauly Kimbell, and Josh and Jordyn Rexinger; and several nieces, nephews, and stepdaughters.

A Celebration of Life will take place in Burlington in the spring.
