Bruce Hubbard

January 23, 1949 — February 12, 2016

Bruce Calvin Hubbard, age 67, of Whiting, N.J., formerly of Lyndonville, Vt., passed away at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, N.J., Feb. 12, 2016.

Bruce was born in Lyndon, Vt., on Jan. 23, 1949, son to the late Calvin Frederick and Veleda Ellen (Taylor) Hubbard. He was raised Lydonville on Hubbard Hill and graduated from Austine School for the Deaf in Brattleboro, Vt., in 1967. He went on to Gallaudet University graduating with a Bachelor's in Business. Bruce worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years as a LSM Operator and later as a Processing Clerk when he retired. He enjoyed traveling with his camper and studying his family genealogy. He loved his work with the Eastern Deaf Timberfest and with the Alumni of the Austine School for the Deaf. His highlights were being an advocate for deaf rights and his role as Santa Claus for deaf children.

Bruce is survived by his companion, Helen Snow of Manahawkin, N.J.; his two children: Bambi Midkiff (Bob) of Westminster, Md., Mingo Hubbard of Westminster, Md., and their mother Sue Hubbard of Brattleboro, Vt.; Bruce's brother and sisters: Bernard Hubbard (Sharon) of Lyndon, Vt., Darlene Hubbard (Carla Mathers) of Hyattsville, Md., Joyce Hubbard of Waterbury, Vt.; three grandchildren: Laura Midkiff, Karson Hubbard, Jonathan Midkiff; two nieces: Jamie Lee, Sarah Hubbard and his nephew: Samuel LaClair.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Feb. 16, 2016, at the Guibord Funeral Home, 15 Main Street in Lyndonville, Vt., with John Sleeper officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the services.

A Graveside service will be scheduled for Friday, May 27, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Lyndon Center Cemetery in Lyndonville, Vt.
