Carolyn “Mimi” Gadapee

08/11/1939 – 10/08/2023

Carolyn Gadapee of Lyndonville passed away at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital when she went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday evening, October 8, 2023 at the age of 84.

Carolyn was born on August 11, 1939, and grew up in Lyndonville.  She graduated from Lyndon Institute and attended Lyndon Teachers College.  Her parents were the late Edward and June (Chamberlain) Randall.

On February 7, 1959, she married the love of her life Paul Gadapee.  He predeceased her on August 20, 2013.  In 1970 the Gadapees moved from Danville to Lyndonville where they raised their children living in the same house until very recently when Carolyn moved to Greensboro Nursing Home.

While raising their children, Carolyn also went to cosmetology school, and opened her own hair salon.  In addition to that, she and Paul started a senior housing apartment building in 1983.  Carolyn continued to run that business until very recently.

Paul and Carolyn had a passion for ballroom dancing.  They enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights at places like the Stardust Room in Newport and Enterprise Grange in Lyndon.  They also taught lessons in the art of ballroom dancing.

In recent years, Carolyn enjoyed knitting.  She knitted hundreds of purses and washcloths for the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Christian Ministry that reaches children around the world.

She is survived by her three children:   Paul Gadapee, Jr. (Sarah) (PO Box 799, Lyndonville, VT 05851), Donna Bollman (PO Box 271, Lyndonville, VT 05851), and Shari DeMarzo (Fred) (PO Box 191, Lyndon, VT 05849); four grandchildren: Adam Gadapee, Kelly Parker, Elizabeth Bollman, and Brian Tenney; 6 great-grandchildren:  Makenzie and Tyler, Aryonna and Nolan, Izabella and Zoey; 1 sister: Patricia Jaquith; 1 brother-in-law: Larry Gadapee; cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.  Her tenants held a very special place in her heart.  They include Patty, Kevin, Marilyn, Mary, Linda, Pat, Deb, and Tim.  As her health declined, she had many special caregivers too.

In 1994 she was predeceased by her granddaughter Emily Bollman suddenly as an infant.  She was also predeceased by 1 brother: Dexter Randall; 3 sisters-in-law Alice Randall, Dianne Gadapee and Annie Gadapee; 3 brothers-in-law Howard Gadapee, Bruce Gadapee, and Francis (Jake) Jaquith.

After the passing of her husband, her little dog Buffy became her loving companion, especially as her health declined, until his passing a few years ago.
