David W. Baker, 81, of Breezy Hill in St. Johnsbury, VT passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

David was born in St. Johnsbury on June 24, 1944, to the Alban Sr. and Cleona (Ramage) Baker. He attended school in Danville, St. Johnsbury, and Concord, graduating from Concord High School, Class of 1963. He worked as a Handyman as well as an Orderly at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. David had been living with his caregiver, Gloria Young.

For four years, David played baseball as a centerfielder. He loved to watch and support area sports teams and followed professional baseball, especially fond of the NY Yankees, and college football. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his niece: Cathy Bertolini, her husband Martin and their children, Dylan and Lauren; nephews: Johnathan, Glenn, Robb, and Stephen Baker; a cousin: Mary Ann Whitehead; his caregiver: Gloria Young, her husband Robert Young; Gloria’s son Christopher Beattie, his wife Courtney Bradley, and their son Cameron Beattie, who was David’s partner in crime. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, James Baker.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Caledonia Home Health & Hospice for their compassionate care. A special thanks to Elaine, Jeremy, and all those who called and supported them during David’s final months.

A graveside service will be held June 24, 2026, 10am, at Concord Village Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Potter and Hospice Chaplain Jill Morgan officiating.
