David Albert Woods, 74, of Danville, Vermont, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. David was born on April 1, 1951, in St. Johnsbury, to Arthur and Marion (Huisman) Woods.
Dave touched the lives of many with his exceptional kindness, generosity, and unwavering support of those he loved. His brilliant smile brought joy to all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Danville High School, Dave went on to earn a political science degree from the University of Vermont. He dedicated 20 years to St. Johnsbury Trucking, serving as Claims Manager until its closure in 1993. He continued his career as Case Work Supervisor for the Vermont Department of Corrections until his retirement in 2015.
Dave cherished time spent outdoors, whether deer hunting, checking his game cameras, tending to his gardens and berry bushes, or making maple syrup. Family and friends will remember Dave as a hardworking man who loved to stay busy and always put others before himself.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Deaett; daughters Julie (Mike Bedor) and Emily; grandchildren Anthony Harris and Ava Bedor; siblings Claire McKee and Don Woods (Gail); and siblings-in-law Francis, Janet, Doug and Mike (Sue) Deaett. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
At David’s request, no memorial service will be held. His ashes will be spread on his favorite hunting grounds. Dave’s warmth and generosity will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
