St. Johnsbury, VT: Dimitrios “Jimmy” Kapoukranidis, age 82, of Farmer Drive, died at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH, May 27, 2026, with his family beside him.
Jimmy was born on December 10, 1943, in Chrisochorafa in Serras, Greece. He began playing soccer at the age of 17 and played for 16 years, continuing to watch the sport long after he finished playing. He served in the Greek Army from the age of 18 until he was 20 years of age. He met “Paula” Polichronia Christidis in Greece the two were married in 1967, where they started raising their 3 children. Come 1977 Dimitrios and Paula immigrated to Worcester Massachusetts, until moving to Vermont in 1979, Choosing to call Saint Johnsbury home for him and his family. The family worked hard running the House of Pizza Restaurants in both St. Johnsbury, and Lyndonville. He loved hunting and fishing, always spending time outdoors whenever possible. His family always came first, going out of his way to host family events for Easter, Greek Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. He actively played a big role in all seven of his grandchildren’s upbringing, whether it was changing diapers, attending sporting events, or spending time hunting/fishing with them, he’d always carved time out of his day for each grandchild.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Paula, of St. Johnsbury, his 3 children: Chrisanthi “Kris” Kapoukranidis and husband Shahin Manfred, of Irvine, CA, Kostantinos “Kostas” Kapoukranidis and wife Carol, of St. Johnsbury, George Kapoukranidis of Concord, VT, his sisters, Soultana, of Greece, and Menexia, of Worcester, MA, his grandchildren: Demitra Manfred, Aria Manfred, Alex Kapoukranidis, Darius Kapoukranidis, Pauleena Kapoukranidis, Austin Kapoukranidis, Christian Kapoukranidis, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother and sister: Kostadinia, of Greece, and Konstantinos, of Greece.
Friends may call on the family from 10AM until Noon, Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury for a time of visitation. Funeral Services will begin at 12PM at the funeral home with The Rev. Dr. Constantine Newman, of The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Concord, NH. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury.
