Douglas Bedard

Douglas Robert Bedard, 82, formerly of St. Johnsbury, VT and New Port Richey, FL, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the Coos County Nursing Hospital after a long illness.

Douglas was born on February 13,1943 in St. Johnsbury to Robert & Virginia (Day) Bedard. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade School with the class of 1961 before beginning his career at Bedard's Service Station on Portland Street, which he owned and operated with his brother Steve until his retirement in 1998. He also worked part time with the CP Railroad. He married Nancy E Daley on August 24,1962, sharing 62 happy years together before her passing on June 12, 2025.

Douglas will be remembered for his love of family and his love of outdoors. He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as horse racing, golfing, shuffleboard, and sports. He enjoyed his annual trips to the Fryeburg Fair and going to camp. His family and friends will remember him as a caring person who enjoyed pulling a good prank or telling a good joke. Though Douglas’ memory may have failed him in his later years, his life and legacy will be remembered by his friends and family for years to come.

Douglas is survived by his son, Douglas R (Debra) Bedard; brother Stephen P (Nancy) Bedard; grandsons Cody A Bedard (Samantha Cross) & Zachary T Bedard (Erica Clayton); step-grandchildren Heather L Thomas, Nicole L Thomas, and Trent W Thomas; sisters-in-law Linda Daley & Judy Daley; six great-grandchildren; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Robert N Bedard and Virginia M Renfrew; brother David J Bedard; wife Nancy E Bedard; stepfather Edwin R Renfrew; as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, and uncles.

A graveside funeral service will be held in the spring at St. Stanislaus Cemetery on Route 105 in Bloomfield, VT at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
