Douglas A. Willey, 63, of St. Johnsbury, Vermont passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Douglas was born on November 22, 1951 in Austria, the son of Seaver and Betty Pitman Willey.
Doug started working in the woods in Walden, as a logger, with his good friend Nate Foster. He then began his legal career as an investigator in Caledonia County and later followed his passion for helping others as the Public Defender of Caledonia, Essex and Orleans Counties.
Doug loved the outdoors, his horses, his trips to California and especially looked forward to camping with the girls every summer. He loved driving the backroads of Vermont with his faithful companion, Marley.
Doug married Diane LaFerriere in 1976 and had two daughters, Morgan Emily and Kamilah Faith.
In 2002 Doug married the love of his life, Cynthia Dodge Willey, bringing three more daughters into his life. He was exceptionally proud of being the father of 5 girls.
He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia Willey, their blended family, daughters Morgan Willey, Kamilah Willey, Abigail Campbell, Lydia Trebilcock and Julia Trebilcock and his grandson Warren Campbell. He is also survived by his siblings, Dianne Larkin of Chicago, Donna Howard of California, Barb Kelley of California and Jon Willey of Pennsylvania.
A reception to honor his life will be held at Doug and Cindy's home on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 2 - 5 pm. Friends and family are invited to stop by during this time.
