Edward George Langlois, 98, of Waterford, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026 at the Country Village Center in Lancaster, after a period of declining health.
Ed was born on January 26, 1928 in Randolph, the youngest of seven children born to George & Josephine (Boucher) Langlois. He was raised in St. Johnsbury before enlisting in the U.S. Army at 17. He went to Korea for one year, working as a radio wave man before returning home and receiving his diploma from St. Johnsbury Academy. Ed then began his 46-year career with Sears Roebuck, first on Eastern Avenue in St. Johnsbury and later at the Green Mountain Mall. He married Pauline Dubois in 1948, sharing 58 years together before her passing in 2016.
Ed will be remembered as a man of deep faith and love of family. He was a man of strong Catholic faith. He lived out his faith through his love of family, taking his girls on many camping trips and vacations to Maine and beyond. Ed and Polly loved going on cruises together; they went on over 30 before her passing, after which Ed went on several more with his children.
Ed is survived by two daughters: Anne (Richard) Loetterle & Susan (Gaylon) Ely; son-in-law Burleigh Huntoon; grandchildren Monique (Bill) Haller, Valerie (Frank) Cesare, Rich Loetterle, Derek (Heather) Rutledge, Josh (Jenn) Rutledge Tyler Huntoon & Tanner Huntoon; several great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents George & Josephine Langlois, beloved wife Pauline Langlois; daughters Dianne Langlois & Theresa Huntoon; and six sisters: Lorraine, Yvonne, Rose, Anita, Gloria, & Cecile.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 23, 2026, 10am, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Johnsbury, VT. At Ed’s request, there will be no calling hours.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the VA team that gave him in-home care for the last year, as well as the Palliative Care team at NVRH and the Hospice Care team of Caledonia Home Health & Hospice. A very special thanks to Tracy Robillard, who came to Ed’s house every week to give him the Eucharist.
