Lyndonville, VT: Ethel May Pearsons, age 83, of Lyndonville, passed away at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, Sunday evening, July 19, 2026, following a decline due to a recent illness.

Ethel was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on July 23, 1942, daughter to the late Donald Paige and Lillian Irene (Hebert) Snelling. She was raised and educated in St. Johnsbury, graduating from the Academy with the class of 1960. Ethel married Donald Duane Pearsons on July 14, 1962, and shared 42 years at the time of his passing in 2004. Don served in the U.S. Army and she followed him from Ft. Riley, KS, to Tacoma, WA, and then to Munich, Germany. Upon returning to the US, they made their home in Lyndonville raising their two sons. She was a stay-at-home mom and assisted Don in the day-to-day running of the Pearsons Funeral Home on Church Street in Lyndonville.

She is survived by her sons: Todd and his wife, Laurie, of Sheffield, Sam and his wife, Kim, of Loveland, CO, her sisters: Donna Freeman of Ashville, NC, Lucy Tremblay and husband, Ronald, of NY, her 4 grandchildren: Jessica Pearsons (Ryan) of Concord, VT, Christopher Pearsons of FL, Caitlin Pearsons of Lyndonville, Cheryl Phillips and husband James of Fairfax, VT, 3 great-grandchildren: Hailee Pearsons, Lennox & Oliver Phillips and several nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by her grandson: Cody Pearsons and her brother-in-law: Charles Freeman.

A private graveside Service will be held at the Lyndon Center Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made in Ethel’s name for Palliative Care at NVRH to the Denise Dussault Caron Fund, PO Box 905, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819. A special thank you the Second Floor Care Team for treating our mother with dignity, respect and kindness.
