Fred Leslie Graves, III

Sutton, VT: Fred Leslie Graves III, age 69, of Wood Hill Road died unexpectedly while resting at his home on December 8, 2025.

Fred was born on May 22, 1956, in Revere, MA, son of Fred Jr and Rosie (Dow) Graves. Fred grew up in Bellows Falls, Waterbury Center and Lyndonville, VT. He graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1974. He worked at Vermont Tap and Die for over 32 years until their closure. He then went on working various part time jobs until his retirement earlier this year.

Fred enjoyed so many things but a few of which he truly loved were racing, trips to Old Orchard Beach, ME, vintage audio, karaoke gigs with his wife, Nancy and his home state of VT. Fred also had a love for the game of golf. The golf course is where he and Nancy fell in love and later married.

Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 11 years, Nancy (Hartwell) Graves; his two sons, Fred IV and his wife Jaime of Danville, Michael and his wife Jeannie of Barre; his two step-sons, Jacob and Nate Spencer of Sutton; his three sisters, Linda Thompson of Lyndonville, Susan Hilton and her husband Mark of Bonita Springs, FL, Paula Gaskin and her husband Tim of Lyndonville; grandchildren-Fred V, Jaysen, Austin, Talen and Liam; many nieces and nephews; his lifelong friend and “brother”, John Sylvester and the children they shared together, their kitties, Earl, Mabel and Charlie

Fred was predeceased by his parents, Fred Jr and Rosie Graves; in-laws, Everett and Joan Hartwell and brother-in-law, Otis Thompson.

A Celebration of Life is planned for January 4, 2026, at the VFW hall from 1-4pm. Please join our family and share your memories of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.
