Gary Kittredge

Gary Eugene Kittredge, age 82, of St. Johnsbury, VT passed away at his home in April 2024.

Gary was born in St. Johnsbury on February 13, 1942, to the late Harold and Christine (Downing) Kittredge.  He was raised on the family farm and attended local schools graduating from St. Johnsbury Trade School.  He worked for a time at Fairbanks Scales and then as a laborer with various contractors in the area, while working on the farm with his father.  Both Gary and his father loved weekend football games on TV and argued throughout the whole game about what team was better. Gary served in the Vermont National Guard in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Gary liked farming and especially loved haying.  In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting.  Gary enjoyed carpentry and was always building something.  He also liked gardening and his German Shepherds.   He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his sons: Chris Kittredge of Lyndonville, VT and Brian Kittredge of Roswell, NM; 5 grandchildren: Cassidy (Cody), Taylor (Emily), Kayla (Alec), Brandon, and Caleb; 7 great-grandchildren; cousins: Eddie Bracey, Dick Bolton, and Jackie Irving; a brother-in-law: Robert Neilsen; and nieces and nephews: Karen Cate, Wendy Donahue, Matthew Ash, Danielle Pleu, Kelly Therrien, Cha Neilsen, and Jon Neilsen.

He was predeceased by his parents and 2 sisters: Patricia Ash and Joyce Neilsen, brother-in-law: Rodney Ash; nephew: Mark Ash; daughter-in-law: Nyia Kittredge; and cousin: Barb Devancy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, 11:00am until 3:00pm at the Lyndon Outing Club.
