Gilles Richard

Gilles Richard, 66, of Lyndonville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 6, 2025.

Gill was born on March 19, 1959 in Newport, VT to Raymond and Georgette (Patient) Richard. A lifelong resident of the Northeast Kingdom, he graduated from Lyndon Institute with the Class of 1977 before beginning 34 years of devoted service with Cabot Creamery. He married Kim Richard on June 7, 2014, sharing 11 years together with their blended family until his passing.

Gill was dedicated to his family and to his work. He was a proud winner of first, second, and third in the world in the Cottage Cheese Class held in Wisconsin. He was deeply disappointed when an injury forced him to retire from such a long and successful career. But his story did not end there. His energy was channeled into the love of his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren, as well as volunteering three days a week as a delivery driver for Meals on Wheels. Outside of his work, Gill loved his animals, especially Amos, watching the Patriots, playing golf, his weekly poker game at The Breslin Center, and hosting parties during the Holidays.

Gill is survived by his loving wife, Kim Richard of Lyndonville; children Raymond (Michelle) Richard of St. Johnsbury, Becky (Josh) Lohse of AK, and Melissa (Nicholas) Hartson of Burlington; siblings Marie (Bob Winterton) Flood of FL and Rejean Richard of FL; grandchildren Tucker Richard, Patrick and Ashley Fox, and Roman and Theo George; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sister-in-law Francois Richard and brother-in-law Larry Flood.

A celebration of Gill’s life will be held on Sunday, July 13, from 2-5pm at the Lyndonville VFW Post #10038, 156 Hill Street, Lyndonville, VT. A memorial service will take place beginning at 3pm.
