Gordon Paul Hastings, Sr., age 84, of Danville died peacefully at the home he built surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born on the family farm on Hastings Hill on October 26, 1940 son of the late Rueben Wallace and Evelyn Luna (Stuart) Hastings. He attended school in Harvey’s Hollow and Danville High School. At the age of 18, he joined the National Guard.
Gordie was known for his welding skills doing the snowmaking equipment on most ski areas in New England. When he wasn’t welding, he was fishing on Lake Champlain, running racoon, hunting deer, turkey, or bear, or competing with his Grand Night Champion Walkers at the Northeast Kingdom Coon and Cat Club.
On April 19, 1974, he married Cynthia A. Hastings (Martin) with whom he shared the majority of his life and raised their 2 daughters, Fawn Hastings (Brian Bourne) of Waterford, VT and Jennifer Hallett (Robbie Hallett) of Waterford, VT.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, daughters Fawn Hastings and Jennifer Hallett, Camilla Hastings Hill (Shawn Hill), Evelyn Hastings, and son Gordon P. Hastings, Jr. Siblings Wallace (Wally) Hastings (Patricia), Ernest (Ernie) Hastings (Madeline), Jeanette Bergeron, and Alice McGee (Thomas). His many grandchildren, Christopher, Austin, and Jacob Baesemann, Patrick and Grayson Hallett, Alicia Ellis, Taylor LaCoss, Samantha Parker, Traci Billings, Gordon P. Hastings, III, Reuben Hastings, Dean Del Toro, Seth Hastings, Dehlia Cordio, Nick Simpson, Hanna Tucker, and Alan Hastings.
Gordon is predeceased by his parents Rueben and Evelyn (Stuart) Hastings, brother James Hastings and infant brother Richard, daughter Gloria Dustin, infant sons Wayne and Donald, and grandson Matthew Billings, as well as many of his best friends.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be Monday, August 11, 2025 at 10:30 am at the Danville Green Cemetery.
