Hazel Taylor

July 26, 1932 — January 30, 2016

Hazel Louise Taylor, age 83, of Main Street in Lyndonville, VT, passed away at her daughter's home in Lyndonville, VT, early Saturday morning, January 30, 2016, with her family by her side following her battle with cancer. She had been a resident of East St. Johnsbury, VT, for over 40 years until moving in 2013.
She was born in Medford, Ma, July 26, 1932, daughter to the late John L. and Mary (LaRiviere) Flood. She was raised and educated in Medford, MA graduating from Medford High School. She married Donald E. Taylor on June 6, 1953 and have shared 63 years together. Hazel worked for Ralph Devereaux at Caledonia Oil in Lyndonville for 17 years as bookkeeper and then continued for the Devereaux Family as personal bookkeeper until she became ill at the end of December. Mimi, as she was known to her youngest generation, enjoyed fishing when she was young, playing cards, crocheting and crafts, going to bingo, and playing cribbage with family and friends. For many years Hazel went with Don who flew remote control planes starting in Massachusetts and later flew them also in Guildhall, VT with the RC Guildhall Flyers.
Survivors in addition to her husband, Donald of Lyndonville, include her two children: Joanne M. Palmer (William) of Lyndonville, Donald L. "Duck" Taylor (Debra) of Waterford, 6 grandchildren: Kathryn & Kassandra Bennett, Dale, Daniel & Desiree Taylor, Caity Palmer, 4 great-grandchildren: Mason, Karson, Tenley, Nelson, and her brothers and sisters-in-law: Evelyn Bowen of W. Charleston, VT, Gladys (Bud) Broome of St. Johnsbury, Ira Taylor (Chris) of Salmon, ID, Paul Sawyer ( Jeannie) of S. Windsor, CT, Richard Sawyer (Janice) of Newark, VT, Penny Flood of Sebring, FL, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers Robert & George Flood, her granddaughter: Carissa Palmer, her brothers-in-law: Harry and Jack Taylor.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1PM on Monday, May 16, 2016, at the Hillside Cemetery in East Charleston, VT.
There will be no calling hours or services at this time.
Memorial donations may be made to either the Norris Cotton Center, 1080 Hospital Drive, St. Johnsbury, VT or to the Caledonia Home Health and Hospice, 161 Sherman Drive, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
