Helena E. Ewens

Helena E. (Clifford) Ewens, passed away unexpectedly after a recent fall at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on Nov. 27, 2023, at 12:37 am.  She was born on Jan. 18, 1941, in Albany, VT to Hale and Tressa (Shatney) Clifford.  Helena graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1960.  She married the love of her life and lifetime partner, Dale Ewens on Aug. 7, 1960.  Her family was extended in 1964 with the birth of daughter, Tina Marie and in 1967 with daughter, Barbara Elaine.  Nothing meant more to her than her family and friends, which included four grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Helena loved camping with her sweetheart, Dale.  She was very creative with sewing, crocheting and baking yummy treats, that she loved to share.  She also loved doing jigsaw puzzles.  Family was her top priority though.  She enjoyed every moment spent with her daughters, their spouses and grandchildren.  Meeting new friends at the campground was a treasured time, especially if they had doggies.

Helena is survived by her husband, Dale of 63 years, her two daughters Tina (Maurice) Sesia of Rindge and Barbara (Jenn) Rice of Lyndonville, VT; Grandchildren Adam (Sasha) Sesia, Nicole (Joe) Serpico, Derek (Chey) and Matthew Rice, Great Grandchildren Riley M, Layla Sesia and Colton Rice.

Helena is also survived by Audrey (Jake) Downey and Evelyn McBey, who were raised like sisters.

She is predeceased by her parents Hale and Tressa Clifford, her step-mother Cora Clifford, her maternal grandmother Hazel Shatney who raised her. Also, Reginald Shatney, Albion Shatney and Mitchell Shatney who were raised like brothers.  And her granddaughter Ashley Dale Sesia.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical and CALEX for their caring, loving support during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to local animal shelters, CALEX or Concord Fire Department.

There will be a celebration of life party in the spring.
