Howard Gilman

Howard Allen Gilman, 70, of Lyndon, VT passed away from kidney cancer at his home in the early hours of Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Howard was born in St. Johnsbury on March 21, 1956 to the late Monroe and Lois (Greenwood) Gilman. He attended Lyndon Institute where he was a member of the cross country team. After graduation in 1974, Howard joined the VT National Guard and served for 9 years. He worked for the State of Vermont and Cabot Creamery, eventually retiring from his long time job as a town worker for The Village of Lyndonville. Howard married his beloved wife, Deborah Charron, on April 1, 1990. They were able to spend 36 years together.

Howard loved his football and going to Aaron’s games at LI. Anybody who knew Howard knew of his love for Green Bay Packers and Boston Red Sox. Howard loved going to the fair for horse pulling and talking to everyone about getting ready for hunting. When Howard and Debbie retired, they enjoyed traveling to towns all around the state.

In addition to his parents, Howard was predeceased by his infant son Eric Gilman.

Those left to mourn include his wife, Debbie Gilman; children Stacia (Jesse) Wright, Jason Gilman, and Aaron (Meredyth) Gilman; granddaughter Tenaya Wright, with another grandchild due in October; siblings Brenda Aiken and Brad (Donna) Gilman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Howard’s family would like to say a special thanks to everyone who helped him in these last few months as well as Caledonia Home Health & Hospice.
