James M. Raymond, 79, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at the St. Johnsbury Center for Living & Rehabilitation.
Jim was born on June 13, 1945, in Elizabeth, NJ to Charles and Ellen (Brockway) Raymond. He grew up in Union, NJ, graduating from Union High School with the class of 1963. It was there that he met the love of his life, Susan Walker, who he married on June 27, 1964. The two shared over 60 years together, living in New Jersey before moving up to the Northeast Kingdom 30 years ago.
Jim was a man of many talents. He spent his career at Lucent Technologies where he worked as a crew chief. After retiring from there he opened a small business doing furniture restoration. He was a handyman and had a gift for being able to fix just about anything. He loved restoring cars and showed off his restorations at many car shows. He was also a talented pianist. He was known for his meticulous way of doing things, especially the landscaping around his house. The most important thing to Jim, however, was his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and also had a great affection for his Jack Russell Terrier, Trudi. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of getting to know him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Susan Raymond of Lyndonville; daughter Colleen (Robert) Fisher of Whippany, NJ; son Corey (Evelyn) Raymond of Sheffield; grandchildren Daniel (Rachel) Raymond, James Fisher, and Nicholas Fisher; as well as many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents, in-laws Harry and Mary Walker, and his brothers Charles and David Raymond.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be celebrated at a later date.
