Joan R. Paro, 86, of Waterford, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at her home.
Joan was born on December 16, 1938, in Lancaster, NH to Keith and Alice (Potter) Algier. She graduated from Lancaster High School with the class of 1957 before beginning work at Nissen’s Baking Company in St. Johnsbury for 28 years and at Henschel Shoe in Littleton for 8 years. She married Raymond Paro on July 2, 1960, sharing 37 years together before his passing on November 24, 1997.
Joan will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed shopping at a good yard sale and reading a good Western novel. Most of all, she will be remembered for her deep love of her family and will be greatly missed by all of them.
Joan is survived by her daughters Jody (Robert, Sr.) Therrien of St. Johnsbury & Stacey (Eric) Carpenter of Waterford; grandchildren Karl Scott (Sandy), Jessi Stevenson, Robert Therrien (Heather), Jr., & Anthony Heath; eight great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Keith & Alice Algier, husband Raymond Paro, sons Keith & Larry Paro, and sister Katherine Bushaw.
A graveside funeral service for Joan with the committal of the remains of Joan, Keith and Larry’s remains will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 2PM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joan’s name can be made to Riverside Animal Rescue, 236 Riverside Avenue, Lunenburg, VT 05906.
