John 'Jack' Savasta

John "Jack" Savasta, 73, of St. Johnsbury, passed away unexpectedly on October 27, 2026, at his home.

Jack was born on October 30, 1952, in Glens Falls, NY to the late John and Alice (Godfrey) Savasta. He was raised in Fort Edward, NY before moving to the Northeast Kingdom, where he has resided for the last 45 plus years. He owned a body shop for several years before working as Head of Maintenance at Burke Mountain Ski Resort. He then worked for the State of Vermont as a Ski Lift Inspector until his retirement.

Jack deeply loved his family and spent as much time with them as he could, especially his beloved grandchildren.

Jack had many interests in his life, but fishing and hunting were at the top of the list. His passion for deep sea fishing and the friendships formed from the hours spent on his boat in Maine were deeply valued.

All that knew him have certainly listened to his many deer hunting tales relating to "his rock" in Waterford.

Jack is survived by his partner in life, Sherry Stahler; children Alicen Savasta (Devin), Nick Savasta (John), and Sherry's daughter Tineka Holk (Boyd), Daughter-in-law Lee Penniman, his siblings Laurie Arcuri (Chuck) and JoAnn Slattery, and grandchildren Isabella, Gunnar, and Phinney. He is also survived by Sherry's sister Sue Mackay (Bob), brother Jeffrey Moore (Michael) and grandchildren Tanner Holk (Kaylie) and Laynie Holk, as well as many nieces, nephews, and family.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, Sherry's son Ty Penniman, sister Tami Moore and brother Michael Moore.

At Jack's request there will be no public services.
