John Kennedy

St. Johnsbury, VT: John David Kennedy, age 78, formerly of West Burke, died peacefully early Monday morning, June 16, 2025, at St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center in St. Johnsbury, VT.

John was born in Las Vegas, NV, on June 21, 1946, son to the late David and Jean (Catania) Kennedy. He was raised and educated in Rocky Hill, CT. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles and loved to putter. His sons built him a custom VW Trike that allowed him to ride despite his disabilities and brought him a great deal of pride and joy at shows between Vermont and Georgia, taking home first place on several occasions. John was a longtime and current member of the Brothers of the 3rd Wheel. He made many fundraising and memorial rides for kids and Vets. Though he was unable to serve for his country, John endeavored to support servicemen in any way he could.

He is survived by his 3 children: Adam Kennedy (Marcia) of W. Burke, Brian Kennedy (Stephanie) of Mount Pleasant, SC, Dawn Cintron of Cromwell, CT; 2 brothers: Vincent Fandetti (Tracy) of Rocky Hill, CT, Michael Kennedy of WA, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his longtime friend & ex-wife: Genevieve (Souppa) Kennedy only 3 months ago in Georgia.

On Saturday June 21, 2025, a Memorial Ride will begin at Mike’s Gas, RT 5, West Burke. Wheels turning at 1 PM. The riders will proceed to John’s favorite watering hole in the day, the Gap Pub & Grill, RT 5A, Westmore, VT. After a drink or two in John’s honor, the ride will continue slowly back by the lake, John’s favorite ride, and on to 2874 Brook Road, West Burke for a Memorial BBQ. All are welcome either to the ride or the BBQ or both. Food should be ready around 4 PM. BYOB please. As were his wishes, John’s remains will accompany the riders. (Note: Brook Road must be accessed from Newark Street due to a bridge out on Brook Road.)
