John Thomas Shafer Jr.

Derby Line, VT: John Thomas Shafer, Jr, age 76, of Michaud Manor, died at the North Country Hospital in Newport, VT, Friday, March 3, 2023.

Tommy was born in Pompton Plains, NJ, on December 23, 1946, son to the late John T, Sr. and Jeannette (Vanderhoof) Shafer.  He was raised and educated in Fayson Lakes, NJ, graduating from Kinnelon High School in the Class of 1964.  He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1966 and served 2 years stationed at Camp Pendleton in California.  Tommy trained as an architectural draftsman and stayed in this field for over 15 years in New Jersey until moving to New Hampshire about 1985. He was an avid reader and a very talented abstract artist.

Tommy is survived by his brother: Scott Shafer (Debra Brown), of St. Johnsbury, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff at Michaud Manor who, over the years, offered wonderful care and support for Tommy.
