Lonnie Waterman

Lonnie Alan Waterman, 73, of St. Johnsbury, passed away at his home on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Lonnie was born June 5, 1952, in Newport, VT to the late Cecil and Marcia (Smith) Waterman. He attended schools in Derby and graduated from North Country Union on 1971. He was talented at many things, and focused on truck driving as his career. He owned his own trucking business, hauling gravel, topsoil, and other construction materials to many colleagues over the years.

In December of 1992, Lonnie married the love of his life, Wanita Wells. They shared a collection of “old things” and enjoyed going thrifting together. Lonnie often returned from his walks with surprises for Wanita that he had found on the side of the road.

Lonnie enjoyed gardening, hiking, bicycling, logging, nature, and his 1969 Road Runner. But he will truly be remembered for his willingness to listen to and help everyone around him. He was an all-around great guy who was always willing to share his vast knowledge with others. Lonnie was a kind and honorable man that gave his best no matter what the task was before him. He loved to tell stories about his life growing up.

Those left to mourn include Lonnie’s wife, Wanita Waterman; siblings, Lawrence Waterman and wife Linda of Florida, Linda Dufield and husband Duffy (Clarence) of Virginia, and Laura Muller of Florida; siblings-in-law, Gerri Gervais and husband Darrell of St. Johnsbury, Pearl Wells of Maine, and Harlow Wells of North Carolina; nephews, Tom Waterman, Chuck Waterman, and Cory Dufield; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be scheduled at the family’s convenience.
