Louise Thompson

Louise A. Thompson, 88, of Sheffield, passed away on May 16, 2026 at St. Johnsbury Center for Living & Rehabilitation.

Louise was born on December 13, 1937, in Norwood, MA to George & Edith (McDowell) Newland. She attended Sheffield Square School before attending and graduating from Lyndon Institute. Louise will be remembered for her lifelong love of horses. She had fond memories of riding through Sheffield Square as a child and kept that great love of horses throughout her life.

Louise is survived by her children Kraig W. Truesdell, Karen W. (Truesdell) Market, Anita L. (Truesdell) Goodwin, Aline Thompson, and Dee Thompson; sister Karlene Chester and her husband Lane; brother Leslie Newland and his wife Kathy; sister-in-law Julie Newland, four grandchildren & four great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents George & Edith (McDowell) Newland, husband Wayland C. Thompson, brother Durwood Newland, brother George Nelson and his wife Janie Nelson.

A celebration of life will take place on June 20, 2026, 12pm, at 1446 Sheffield Square Rd, Sheffield, VT.
