Lucille Ruth Ventres

Lucille Ventres, aged 95, passed away on February 19, 2024 at the Frances Atkinson House in Newbury, Vermont.  Lucille was born in Berlin, Connecticut January 30, 1929 to the late Herman Ernest and Ruth Oliver (Webster) Splettstoeszer. Lucille married Arthur Dale Ventres July 1, 1946, they shared 36 years together until his passing in July 1982.  

Her compassionate nature extended beyond her loved ones as she actively participated as a volunteer with the Lyndon Senior Meal Site, Caledonia Home Health and Hospice program, church fundraising for Lyndonville Congregational Church and the East Burke Chamber.

Lucille enjoyed gardening, cooking, and had a strong appreciation for classical music. 

Lucille is survived by her five children Mark Ventres (Susan); Claudia McCormack (William); Deborah Cuccia (Frank); Virginia Pia (Lewis); and Jennifer Ventres; her cherished grandchildren Amy Widmer/Eric; Margaret Bachmann/Brian; Jennifer McCormack; Katherine Ventres/Jay; Caroline Paradis/Eric; Angela Chafee/Jared; Curtis Cuccia/Nicole; and great-grandchildren: Alex Bachmann, Denver Bachmann, Jack Widmer, Charlie Widmer, Seth McClure, Luke McCormack, Ava & Emma Chafee. 

Lucille was pre-deceased by her grandson, Benjamin Arthur McCormack; her longtime partner, Douglas Minor; her siblings Herbert Splettstoeszer, Frederick Splettstoeszer, Margaret Holmes, Gertrude Splettstoeszer, Alice Gorey, Roberta Flannagan and Martha Consentino.  

A celebration of Lucille's life will be held on May 28, 2024 at 10:00 at Lyndonville Congregational Church followed by graveside prayers at the Woodmont Cemetery, East Burke.
