Danville, VT: Malcolm Edward Lang, age 94, of Oneida Road, passed at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday evening, August 14, 2025, following a recent decline.
Malcom was born and raised in Hill, NH, on December 16, 1930, the son of the late Ervin Edward and Hildred Ellen (Wilson) Lang. He graduated from Franklin High School in the Class of 1948. He owned and operated a gas station there until joining the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He served during the Korean War stationed in Japan and was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant in 1955 finishing out his duty in ’59. On May 26, 1967, he married Marie Anita Daniel and shared over 46 years together. At the time of her passing on January 6, 2014. They made their home in East Hampton, CT. He was proudly employed with Pratt & Whitney for 25 years. They built their dream house in Danville in 1980 and made it home in 1986, when he began working for CALCO. After several years there he eased back on time and took a custodian position with Danville School. That job continued for several years until Mal fully retired in 2014.
He is survived by 3 children: Keith Sutkaitis and wife, Kim, of East Hampton, CT, Christ Sutkaitis of Concord, VT, Diana Cote and husband, Roger, of Danville, VT, 7 grandchildren: Rachel Yost (Craig), Meghan Sutkaitis, Jarod Beaulieu (Amy), Sonja Beaulieu, Daniel Cote, Alyssa Cote-Bumps (Coleton), (in-law) Kristi Beaulieu 10 great-grandchildren: Tessa-Lynn, Kameron, Lyla, Hunter, Jarod Jr., Sam, Tyler, Jackson, Emmett and Lincoln.
He was predeceased by his daughter: Rebecca Lang on December 23, 2018, his daughter-in-law: Debra Sutkaitis on May 18, 2023, his grandson: Noajh Beaulieu in April 2019, a brother: George Lang and sister: Marion Thelma Lang, and his 2 sons: Stephen and Malcolm who died shortly after birth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville. Burial will take place immediately following for both Marie and Malcolm at the Danville Green Cemetery on Brainard St. Fr. Lance Harlow will officiate. Military Honors will be observed at the grave.
Friends may call on the family from 5-7PM Thursday evening August 21st for calling hours at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury.
Memorial donations may be made to an animal shelter of one’s choice, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the USO, charities that Mal kept to his heart.
