Marjorie Berry

Stannard, VT: Marjorie Edith Berry, age 87, passed away at Greensboro Nursing Home in Greensboro, VT, with her husband beside her, on Tuesday evening, September 8, 2026.

Marjorie was born on April 15, 1938, in St. Johnsbury, VT, daughter to the late Walter and Miriam (Skinner) McKee, and grew up there, graduating from the Academy in the Class of 1956. After settling down in Lyndonville with her first husband, Lloyd, she matriculated to Lyndon Teachers College completing her degree and eventually found her way to Union District 37, Sheffield Town School, working as a Special Education Teacher. Marjorie continued her education, one or two courses at a time, and finally earned her Master’s Degree. She continued to work for Sheffield until retirement, where she still insisted on tutoring a few times a week. This love of knowledge and teaching drove her to all aspects of her life personally, career-wise and in her family life. She made learning part of all that she did from always reading to children and grandchildren, crafting and exploring, going on nature hikes or long car rides, whatever it was, there was always something to learn. Her spirit will continue to live on in the teaching community for years to come.

Marjorie was married to Lloyd Berry in 1959 and had shared 31 years at the time of his passing in 1990. They raised their family in St. Johnsbury until the mid to late 70’s when they moved to Lyndonville. She was a member of the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, held a love for all children and animals, and was very active in her community. Spending time with her grandchildren was the most important part of her world along with countless lifelong friends and family.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 20 years, Alfred Drown of Stannard; her 3 children: Lawrence & Noreen Berry of Westford, VT, James & Jennifer Berry of Hyde Park, VT, Charlene Roy & Andrew Bardon of W. Hartford, CT; her brother: Arthur McKee & Julie Gravelle of Polson, MT; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, nephews, family and close friends.

She was also predeceased by her great-grandson: Parker James Berry and her best friend, doppelganger and soul sister: Jeannie Moffatt Williams.

A Graveside Service will take place at 11AM on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the top of Lyndon Center Cemetery in Lyndon Center alongside her husband, Lloyd, with Rev. Dr. Jill Morgan officiating. There will be no Calling Hours.
