Mary "Jean" Easter

Mary “Jean” Easter, 86, of East Haven, VT passed away peacefully at home with family and friends around her on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

 Mary was born August 14, 1937, in Kirby, VT, the daughter of Leonard and Ruth Rivers.  On September 9, 1955, she married Rodney Easter.  They moved to St. Johnsbury, VT and she started working at Glovers.  In 1966, they moved to East Haven with their children.  Mary was a homemaker and then started working at Russell’s Drug Store until they closed.   She then went on to EHV and worked on the Green Team until she retired. 

 Mary enjoyed camping at Lakeside, Island Pond, with her husband Rod for many years.  She enjoyed going to yard sales and having them, too!  She went to Christmas Bizarres with all the crafts she made.   Mary loved decorating her home for all holidays, but especially Christmas and Halloween. Her decorations were enjoyed by several generations of townspeople.

 Survivors include her daughter: Lynn Masure; her son: Rodney Easter, Jr. (Dianne); three special grandchildren: Joshua Simpson (Katrina), Ethan Masure (fiancé Megan), and Haley Masure: three great-grandchildren: Witten Rodney Simpson, Logan, and Kiki; siblings: Dorothy (John) Houghton, Scott (Linda) Rivers, Judy Bickford, Lena Mitchell, Rachel (Charlie) Cole, Rochelle Simpson (Paul Houghton), and Margaret (George) Humphrey; her in-laws: Madelyn, Brenda, Bonnie, and Carol Easter, and Doug Easter (Hilde Sparrow); and many nieces and nephews. She will be so missed by her loving dog, Mitzy.

 She was predeceased by her husband: Rodney F. Easter, Sr; her parents: Leonard and Ruth Rivers; a sister: Ann Gadapee; a brother: Robert Rivers and his wife Shirley; brothers-in-law: Bob Bickford, Roger Mitchell, and Randy Simpson; and members of Rodney’s family including: his parents Floyd and Edith Easter, Gene, Bud, Paul, Donny, and Skip Easter, and Roxanne Stacy.

 At Jean’s request, there won’t be any services.
