Maryann Friend

Lyndonville, VT: Maryann E. Friend, age 72, of Robin Lane, passed away peacefully at the Jack Byrne Palliative Care Center in Lebanon, NH, Saturday night, November 22, 2025, following a quick decline.

Maryann was born in Lyndonville, VT, on August 19, 1953, daughter to Evelyn Wright and the late Dwayne Hartwell. She grew up in Hudson, NY, but the family moved back in her teen years. On May 28, 1971, she married Glen Paul Friend, and they have shared 54 years together. Over the years Maryann worked in several sales retail settings in the area. She was into crafts of all kinds, enjoyed crocheting, and loved playing video games, often getting the new systems when they came out. Her favorite thing to do was read and her favorite author was Stephen King. She loved being with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Glen, Sr. of Lyndonville, her mother: Evelyn Wright of Sheffield, her daughter: Heather Perkins and husband, Shawn, of Lyndonville, her son: Glen, Jr. and wife, Sarah, of Danville, her brother: Bob Hartwell and wife, Donna, of Lyndonville, her sister: Toni Wright, of Sheffield, 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by several siblings and her infant son, Jonathan, in 1973.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5pm until 8pm on December 4, 2025, at Sheffield Federated Church, 130 Berry Hill Road in Sheffield. Burial will take place next spring at the St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery in Lyndonville.
