Matthew J. Kenny

Matthew Joseph Kenny, 75 of East Burke, VT died at home with his wife by his side on February 15, 2024.  Matt was born on March 15, 1948, in Rutland, VT; the son of Matthew Kenny, Sr. and Bernice Wallet Kenny. He graduated from West Rutland High School in 1966 and went on to serve four years in the U.S. Air Force. 

Matt and Mary Jerard were married in Charlotte, VT on May 18, 1974. In 1975 they moved to East Burke, VT, where they have made their home for the past 48 years. Matt served on the Burke School Board for several years in the 1980's and later served on the Caledonia County Fair Committee. 

Matt worked for many years in sales for Northern Equipment, New England Equipment and Grappone Industrial. He was a well known and successful salesman in the world of John Deere construction and forestry equipment.  

Matt, Mary, family and friends had many good times skiing at Burke Mountain. Matt also spent many years hunting in the Paul stream area with friends and family.

 Throughout his life, Matt enjoyed photography, reading and following politics and world events. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter Elizabeth McQuade; son John Kenny; granddaughter Erin McQuade; and grandson Adrian Burrington. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Kay Wyand of Florida, and a niece, Debbie Sweet of West Rutland.  He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Kenneth Handley. 

 Friends may visit with the family on Saturday February 24, 2024, from 2-4PM at the Guibord- Pearsons Funeral Home, 15 Main St. in Lyndonville. 

Interment will take place at the Woodmont Cemetery in the spring.
