Pamela Moore

December 29, 1962 — February 23, 2023

Jacksonville, VT

Pamela “Pam” Moore, of Jacksonville, VT, peacefully passed away, surrounded by family, on February 23rd, 2023.

Born in Pittsfield, MA on December 29th, 1962, Pam was the youngest of four children born to Allan “Hank” and Janet (Poole) Scott. Her family moved to Halifax, VT in 1971 and she attended Halifax Elementary when it was a 3-room schoolhouse. The following year, they moved to Jacksonville and she attended Whitingham School. This is where she would meet her future husband, Gordon “Gordy” Moore, when she and he were in the 5th and 4th grades, respectively. She graduated from Whitingham High School in 1980 and, after Gordy graduated in 1981, they moved to Arizona together where he would attend school. They then moved to CT for one year before returning to VT, where they started Moore Bros. Body and Paint. She married Gordy on February 23rd, 1985, at the Jacksonville Community Church. Pam worked in the office at Moore Bros. and helped run other businesses they owned for many years. In 2003, Pam took the position of Clerk at the Jacksonville Municipal Electric Company and was later elected President. Pam was diagnosed with ALS in March 2021 and, as her health declined, she retired from her position. Her sister Shelly became her devoted caregiver until Pam moved in with her daughter Gillian in November 2022.

Pam says her greatest accomplishment in life was her family; being a mom and Nana. She enjoyed many summers on the boat at Lake Whitingham, was the “music trivia master”, and kept all of us fed and happy with her famous baked mac n’ cheese and “Pammy toast”. In recent years, she and Gordy purchased land in Halifax where they began building a future home for their retirement. Her brother, Craig, and his wife Kim, purchased land next door and the four of them had endless fun running heavy machinery, clearing the land, driving around the woods in the old Jeep, camping out, and sharing countless laughs around a campfire, with lots of family joining them often. She was a wildlife lover and advocate, teaching us all about injustices to animals. She loved taking care of birds, making sure the birdseed and sugar water were full year-round. She lived to uplift others and make things better and easier for us all. She will be remembered for always having a smile on her face and her ability to make everyone feel special and loved.

She leaves her daughter Gillian, with husband Jeff Scarpino, and grandsons Parker and Jason of West Burke, VT; her daughter Natalie, with husband Joe Joyner, and grandsons George and Crosby of Salem, MA; her sister Deborah and husband Neil, of West Chesterfield, NH; her sister Shelly and partner Ken, of Jacksonville, VT; her brother Craig and wife Kim, of Berlin, CT; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, Allan “Hank” and Janet (Poole) Scott, and her husband Gordon “Gordy” Moore.

In keeping with Pam’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Her family will be hosting a celebration of life at their land in Halifax, during warmer weather. Details to come.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Vermont Wildlife Coalition, Twice Blessed, Deerfield Valley Rescue, and The ALS Association (specifically for research).
