Raoul Houde

Raoul Houde was born in Saint Johnsbury on April 3, 1942 and died July 3, 2015 2015 at his home in St. Johnsbury.
He was the son of Clement and Annette Houde, both predeceased, and one of 5 children. He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Marcelle (Menard) Houde; twelve children: Monique Gravelin and husband Rod of St. Albans, VT, Father Paul, A Diocesan Priest of Stowe, VT, Robert of Colorado, Debra Ricaldi and husband Michael of Washington, David and wife Tina of Barnet, VT, Chief Clement, St. Johnsbury Police Department and wife Rose of Barnet VT, Michelle Clark and husband Patrick of New Hampshire, Jeffrey and wife Valerie of East Burke, VT, Augustin and wife Nicole of Ohio, Angela Gasek and her husband Jeff of Massachusetts, Mary Skovsted and her husband Eric of Barnet, VT and US Army Staff Sgt. Joseph of South Korea; two brothers: Fernand of Florida and Gerard of New York; two sisters: Alice Perkins and Teresa Houde both of New Hampshire. He leaves behind many cherished friends, 41 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren
His family was very precious to him and he gave them all he had. He also loved his parish family with a passion, always close to the pastor and associate priest. He liked hunting and fishing. He farmed most of his life, and after selling the animals in June of 2000, he took employment with St. John's church as janitor. He cantored a Sunday Mass for many years, usually the early mass, and this meant so much to him. His greatest joy to the end was being around people.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 6, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
