Robert Salbego

May 27, 1946 — January 28, 2019

Robert Salbego, age 72, passed away at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center with his wife by his side Monday, January 28, 2019, after a decline from a long illness.  He had been a resident since 2012.

Robert was born in Trenton, NJ, on May 27, 1946, son to the late Robert William and Mary Louise (Earle) Salbego.  He was raised and educated in the Ewing and Princeton, NJ, area.  He owned Princeton Commercial Services for many years until his retirement. His retirement dream was to become involved in marine salvage and recovery in South Carolina.  Bob loved the outdoors, gardening, reading, bird watching and the Jersey shore.  He also loved films and talking about ideas. He loved to talk about military history, philosophy and classical music. He was known by friends and family for his laughter, interesting conversations about all of the above, and for the best spaghetti sauce known to man. His pride and joy was his family. He will be remembered for his constant love and devotion to them.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara J. (Wilgus) Salbego, of Lyndonville, 2 children: Lisa Schnorr and husband, Eric, of Maplewood, NJ, Evan Salbego and wife, Azia, of Monterey Bay, CA, his sister: Laurie Lenartowicz and her husband, Rocky, of Livingston, TN, his sister-in-law:  Shirley Lawson and husband, Rex, of Branchville, NJ, 2 grandchildren: Max and Alex Schnorr and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be no services or calling hours at this time.  Burial will be private.

The family wishes to offer many thanks to the kind and supportive staff at St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center, particularly to the nurses who cared for him in his final days.
