He loved going to all the Danville sports activities, especially when his grandkids were growing up and participating. He enjoyed taking rides in the side-by-side with Linda, golfing when time allowed and coon hunting, back in the day. Draft horses were dear to his heart, purchasing them from the Amish in Holmes County, OH. He developed a lasting friendship with several of the farmers there, having taken a number of trips to the area. He was a lifetime member of the Freemasons, belonging to the Washburn Lodge #92 in Danville, the Shriners and the Knights of Pythias and the Scottish Rite having joined the Mt. Sinai Shriners No. 3 and became Potentate in 1994. Roy was longtime member and past President of the St. Johnsbury Rotary where he was later presented with the Paul Harris Recognition Award.
