Sally D. Canning

Sally D. Canning, 90, of Lyndon, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at her home after a long illness.

Sally was born on August 20, 1935, in Newark, VT to Benjamin and Stella (Page) Donaldson. She was raised in Vermont before going to Boston for business school. It was there that she met Raymond Canning; the two were married on October 23, 1971, sharing nearly 41 years together before his passing in 2012. The couple moved back to Vermont in the early 70’s so Sally could take care of her parents.

Sally had a great love for flowers, meticulously tending her flower gardens at home. She also worked as a florist in the area for some time. She also loved antiquing, never missing a barn sale to add something special to her collection.

Sally is survived by a nephew, Rocky Donaldson; a niece Serena Leonard: and two great nieces and a great nephew. She was predeceased by her parents Benjamin & Stella Donaldson, husband Raymond Canning, two young sisters Audrey and Prunella; siblings Johanna Donaldson & Raymond Donaldson; and a niece, Nerissa Donaldson Young.

There will be no services at this time. Memorial contributions can be made in Sally’s memory to Caledonia Home Health & Hospice.
