Lyndonville, VT: Virginia Alice Powers, age 93, of Main Street, Lyndonville, passed on May 4, 2025, at St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center in St. Johnsbury, VT, where she resided the past two months following a very recent decline.
Ginny was born on March 14, 1932, in Sutton, VT, daughter to the late Frederick Gould and Enid Mae (Jackman) Berry. She grew up in the Kingdom including Wheelock, Sheffield, Sutton and parts of Orleans County. Although she only completed 8th grade, Ginny later went on to complete high school and get her associates degree. As a teenager she lived with her sister, Viola, in New York City, moved to Connecticut in 1954 and returned to Vermont in 1976, working in several factories throughout the years, often holding two jobs at a time. Ginny retired from the maintenance crew at Lyndon Institute in 1996. She was a longtime member of the Sutton Freewill Baptist Church as well as the Rebekah’s. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting , embroidery, cooking and taking long rides in the car, which may have included a number of class 4 roads. Life was an adventure.
She is survived by her 2 sons: Iver “Chip” Iverson, III (Sharon) of St. Johnsbury, Tim Morales (Verity Lattrelle) of S. Burlington, 4 daughters: Mildred Hanson of Keene, NH, Susan Potter of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Gloria Iverson of N. Troy, Vt and Ana Morales of Fayetteville, NC, 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Powers in 1976, her son: Frederick Iverson in 2008 and her 5 sisters: Velma Stevens, Verla Hudson, Vivian Dubois, Viola Abbotantoro and Bertha Mitchell.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Sutton Village Cemetery on Underpass Road in Sutton. There will be no Calling Hours. Please join the family immediately following the burial at Lyndonville VFW, 156 Hill St, Lyndonville, VT 05851 for a Celebration of Life from 2-6pm.
