Walter William Sevigny, Jr.

Walter William Sevigny Jr., 88, of Danville, VT passed away peacefully with his loving daughter Kathy and niece Barb Sweet by his side on Monday, May 18, 2026. His family takes great comfort knowing that he was reunited with the love of his life, Marylene, on the 70th anniversary of their wedding day.

Walt was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont on October 1, 1937, to Walter and Pearl (Laventure) Sevigny. He attended elementary school in St. Johnsbury and graduated from The Trade School in 1955. Following graduation, Walt went to work at Fairbanks Morse as a draftsman, where he spent his entire career, retiring as a mechanical engineer in 1998.

On May 18, 1956, Walt married his high school sweetheart, Marylene Frye. Together they raised their two daughters, Susan and Kathy, on Hill Street in Danville. Walt was a devout family man who measured his life not by accomplishments, but by relationships: summer camping trips to Maine or fishing on Joe’s Pond with his children and grandchildren, enjoying a holiday meal with family, sharing his woodworking talents with friends and family by helping with carpentry and maintenance projects.

Walt had many hobbies. Throughout his life, the love in his heart was expressed through the work of his hands of his favorite hobby, woodworking. He enjoyed making furniture for his family, from beautiful bedside tables and dressers to precious doll furniture for his granddaughters. He was also a talented fisherman, whether it be crafting fly fishing lures or casting out on Joe’s Pond, and he passed his love for the sport down to his grandchildren.

Walt is survived by his daughter, Kathy and son-in-law Stanley Linkovich (Danville, VT), grandchildren Ryan (Rhonda) Conover (Deering, NH), Cynthia (Matt) Doherty (St. Albans, VT), William (Mandy) Linkovich (E. Haven, VT), Ashley Deuso (Morrisville, VT), and Allison Linkovich (Danville, VT), great grandchildren Dylan Conover, Destiny (Mel) Conover, Anthony Conover, Ada Reynolds, and Thomas Doherty, brother Reginald (Martha) Sevigny (Niantic, CT), step-brother Thomas (Gail) Garfield (Belmont, NH), brothers-in-law George Pellettiere and William Frye, sister-in-law Virginia Frye, and several nieces and nephews.

Walt was preceded in death by his wife, Marylene Frye Sevigny, daughter, Susan Conover Deuso, sons-in-law Bryan Deuso and Patrick Cray, sister Dianne Sevigny Pellettiere, sisters-and brothers-in-law Louise (Donald) Hale, John Frye, Georgianna (Garth) Page, Berton Frye, and Kathy Frye.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Greensboro Nursing Home for their exceptional care, compassion and kindness shown to Walt during his stay.
