William F. “Sandy” Hill III, age 75, passed away August 19, 2025 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital due to heart and lung issues. Sandy was born in Winsted, Connecticut on January 16, 1950, to William Hill II and Marie (Lasch) Hill. He grew up in the small town of Norfolk, CT, along with his sister Marylynn.
Sandy was a bit of a wild child, constantly testing his parents’ patience and always finding ways to annoy Marylynn. He spent long hours fishing and exploring the woods, playing baseball, and riding his bike everywhere. After his high school graduation, he drifted to Florida and received a marine biology degree from The Florida Institute of Technology. Sandy loved Florida and being near the ocean. He would have happily lived there forever; however, family drew him back to New England. He eventually moved to Lyndonville to attend Lyndon State College. After graduation, he embarked on a long teaching career, spending 39 years at Concord School. He mostly taught junior high math and science then became the school's computer tech.
Sandy was a true child of the 60's-long hair, going to Woodstock (he still had his entrance ticket!), not caring much about what other people thought (much to his parents’ dismay), and loving the great music of that decade. Music was always important to him.
Along the way, Sandy had three children: Kristoffer, Shauna, and Kasea. He eventually married Kim and they spent over 30 years together, despite her being a Red Sox fan. Sandy was Yankees all the way! Most people probably will think of him as wearing his beloved Yankees hat and having a pipe in his mouth. The pipe eventually went away but the hat never did. For many years, Sandy played softball in the region and spent countless hours fishing. After he stopped playing softball, he became crazy about golf, even teaching Kim to play.
Sandy is survived by his wife Kim; children Kristoffer, Shauna, and Kasea; grandchildren Colby and Bellamy; sister Marylynn; extended family member Torrie; sisters-in-law Lynn (Glen), Kristi (Mike), and Nicki; former wife Claire (Fred), and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his crazy dog, Tipsy, and sweet granddog, Scout. He was predeceased by his parents, Kim's parents, stepmother Marguerite, beloved aunt and uncles, brother-in-law Tom and niece Karrie.
