Zachary Jacob Escalada

Peacham, VT: Zachary Jacob Escalada, 49, of Academy Hill died on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.

Zachary was born in Metairie, Louisiana on March 12, 1976, to Virginia (Young) Escalada and Dr. Louis J. Escalada. In 1984, he moved to Peacham and attended local schools graduating from Blue Mountain Union School.

Zachary lived with two rare diseases and far surpassed the life expectancy of both. He was a survivor. Zachary had a great smile. He loved Scooby-Doo and really loved eating.

Those left behind include his mother: Ginny Escalada of Peacham, VT; his father: Dr. Louis J. Escalada of New Orleans, LA; a sister: Laura Escalada Dunston and husband Joseph of Wake Forest, NC; nieces: Kaitlin Dunston Earnhardt and husband Robert, Allie Dunston, and Brionna Dunston; great-nephew: Liam J. Earnhardt.

Zachary was fortunate to have wonderful caregivers throughout his life. The family would like to thank Wanda Burwick, Nancy Bijou, Tracy Meisel, Sue Hatch, Cheryl Stevenson, and Mary Dimick for their devotion to Zachary.

A Graveside Service and Burial were held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Peacham Cemetery.
